Facing Demons was the product of a grueling eight-month process that pushed my creativity further than I expected. The song was essentially finished around the three-month mark, and I moved forward with mixing and mastering it. But after sitting with it and listening back several times, something told me it wasn't done. I heard an opportunity to add an entirely new section to the back end of the track, and I couldn't let it go. That decision sent me back to the drawing board. It took another three to four months to develop that second section, get it where it needed to be, and make sure the mix held up across the full song. The extra time was worth it. What started as one idea became something deeper, and I think the final version reflects every hour that went into it.

Pressure Makes Diamonds Vol. 1 marked a turning point, my first full project where I was intentional about every detail. Instead of just laying down tracks, I focused on building real arrangements: layering sounds with purpose, letting the rhythms breathe, and crafting melodies that people could actually feel. The goal was simple, make something that moves people, whether they know music or not. Recording sessions took place across both Washington D.C. and Georgia, giving the album a cross-regional footprint that reflects the journey it took to bring it to life. I was grinding on Pressure Makes Diamonds Vol. 1 right up until the last possible moment. The deadline was real, and I met it, but not without putting everything I had into it first. That pressure pushed me to make decisions I might have second-guessed otherwise, and looking back, I think it made the project stronger.

Produced, Written, Recorded, Mixed & Mastered by J-Smooth Productions (Justin Rozier) Tracklist: 1. Figure You Out 2. Windy at 9AM 3. Grateful 4. The Blue Bow 5. Calm Before the Storm 6. Red & Black Released independently via DistroKid.
When I made Windy at 9AM, I was really just trying to find my footing in the music production game. I was still figuring out how DAWs work, how to actually navigate the software, and get sounds to sit where I wanted them. Arranging and composition were still new concepts to me. I was also learning how to take an idea in my head and actually structure it into something that had a beginning, a middle, and an end. A lot of it was just making beats on the most fundamental level. One of my main internal questions was, "What makes a groove feel right? How do you layer sounds without it turning into noise? What's the difference between something that sounds amateur and something that actually hits?" I was asking all those questions in real time while I was building this project. Looking back, that whole process was eye-opening. I could feel myself leveling up as I went. Windy at 9AM wasn't perfect by any means, but it was the moment I started to really understand what this craft was about. Also, the growth from this project allowed me to continue working and grinding.
